The S8+ has a similar appearance and feel as the previous Roborock S7 MaxV but comes with a more sophisticated mopping system. The S8+ is a good choice for people who have carpeting that is medium to high-pile. Its low noise level allows you to use it while watching TV, working, or even talking on the phone. Just don't plan to have it drive up or down the stairs, since it's not very adept at navigating that kind of surface. Its object avoidance is also slightly weaker than other Roborock models.

2. Eufy RoboVac 11S Max

For the cost at which it's priced, the Eufy RoboVac 11S Max is an acceptable robot vacuum for carpets. It's reasonably well-built and the dirt compartment is decent size and the battery life is solid. The only issue with this vacuum is the amount of maintenance required. There are numerous components that must be cleaned and replaced frequently. There is no app that can tell you the time it's needed to be charged and emptied but the remote is able to request that it clean it immediately or at a set time.

The vacuum's standard suction is incredibly quiet, and has a BoostIQ feature that automatically boosts power when it detects dirtier floors. It's not as powerful as a professional floor cleaner, but it does an excellent job of removing dust from carpets that are hard and medium-pile. It can also be operated manually to focus on certain areas or rooms.

It's not the most effective at removing pet hair or removing large pieces of debris but it's much better than some of the less expensive models that focus on cleaning floors. It's good on high-pile rug. It can struggle to remove pieces of carpet that have been trampled, such as cereal, and it does not come with a spot-cleaning mode.

The Roomba's eufy i3 is superior to the Bobsweep Bob Pro. However, it is not as good as iRobot Roomba i3. The iRobot is built better and has a HEPA filter, is faster to charge and lasts longer on a single charge. It's also more efficient in sweeping carpets and getting rid of pet hair. It also lacks mopping capabilities and can sometimes have difficulty returning to its base. However, it is a great option for an apartment or small house, especially if you do not want to pay for advanced features.

3. Roborock Q5+

It even scored highly in our Crevice Pickup Test, which is an indication of its ability to reach and extract debris from tight spaces.

The Q5+ also comes with useful features, like the child lock that shields it from curious kids and pets that are prone to slipping. It also supports Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Siri for hands-free control. You can start cleaning by tapping a button, and the robot will return to its dock when the job is complete. You can also program the robot to empty itself and this is a great feature when you don't want clean the dustbin manually.

4. Shark ION Robot AV753 Series

Shark's commitment to reliability is evident in this robot vacuum cleaner. It comes with the Tri-Brush System that combines side brushes, channel brushes and a multi-surface roller for effective cleaning of hard floors and carpets. The SharkClean app allows you to control the vacuum cleaner by voice commands, and it has smart connectivity. This model is simple to schedule and provides an extended runtime, perfect for a full home-cleaning. Its sophisticated sensors offer obstacles and cliff detection, which helps to avoid collisions and falls.

This budget-friendly robot is excellent in removing debris from unfinished floors. It also excels of removing pet hair from carpets. However, it's not able to remove fine particles like baking soda from carpets with low pile and its basic navigation system does not have the advanced mapping functionality found in pricier Shark models.

The eufy RoboVac 30C may be a better option, but this Shark is more robust and has a larger battery. It offers a greater range of automation features, including multiple modes to suit various cleaning tasks, as well as the ability to manually select which areas to clean. It is also cheaper than iRobot Roomba 694, which is arguably best robot vacuum cleaner in 2024 for carpets.

iRobot is more maneuverable and has more precise surface-type adjustments. It also has fewer components to clean and lower recurring costs. Smart-pathing is more efficient, and its boundary makers allow you to mark a specific area of your home you wish to stay clear of. The iRobot has a larger bin and an automatic surface detection feature which lets it work better on different surfaces.

5. Wyze

Wyze is an affordable robot vacuum cleaner with the HEPA filter that blocks out allergens. It has a charging station however it does not have a self-emptying dock, like some of its rivals.

Even in my chaotic office, the LIDAR sensor can create a map. The robot is now able to clean in a more organized way, rather than just bouncing around on walls. It also has no trouble climbing up on rugs that are tall. It's not smart enough to detect any place that requires extra levels of cleaning, however, which would be nice. It's also not able to switch between hard and carpet floors as some more expensive alternatives can.

Despite these flaws, the Wyze does a great job on floors with no padding and carpets with a low pile. It's particularly adept at removing pet hair and dirt from hardwood flooring. Its performance on carpet with a high pile is a little less impressive, and you'll need to make an additional run or two to eliminate all the larger debris and medium-sized material, especially on the edges of rooms.

The Wyze is easy to install and use. Once you connect it to Wi-Fi, you can open the app and sign up for an account (it's free). You'll have to select a name for the robot and decide if you'd like voice control. After that it will ask if you want to calibrate its sensors and set an agenda for it to follow. Then you're ready to start using it. The only minor drawback is that it's too light for the dock, which means it's more prone to get stuck on the bottom of shelves and catching the charging contacts underneath and preventing it from charging.
